Music stars light up MPC national choral tilt

MANILA, Philippines - Special guest artists will brighten up the Aliw Theater stage when Manila Broadcasting Company and Star City mount the 2014 MBC National Choral Competitions next week.

Sarah Caballero, from Season 2 of The Voice Philippines, fires the opening salvo today, followed by Darren Espanto of The Voice Kids tomorrow, Dec. 10.  Morisette Amon then takes to the stage on Dec. 11, with Jonalyn Viray on Dec. 12. For the grand finals on Dec. 13, legendary rock band Aegis is set to wow audiences.

Forty-four of the country’s top chorales will be trading musical notes as they vie for the  2014 MBC National Choral Competition championships. A cash prize of P150,000 is at stake for the grand champion in the open category, while P100,000 is up for grabs in the children’s division, thanks to Globe Telecom, Columbia Candies, Shell, M.Lhuillier, Hapee Toothpaste, Speed Detergent, Coca Cola, Jollibee and the Philippine Choral Directors Association.

Friendship concerts will also be held on Dec. 11 and 12 at the Grand Atrium of the Shangri-La Plaza.
