No sibling rivalry between Alodia and Ashley

Bot Glorioso - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Sisters Alodia and Ashley Gosiengfiao are like two peas in a pod. They dress up like dolls with matching colored hair that flows smoothly even at the slightest move. Both giggle almost at the same time and agree to a lot of things — including cosplay. Their mom Mariglor takes pride in raising these lovely girls who grew up real close to each other. The three were formally introduced as Katinko brand endorsers in a presscon held recently.

“Aside from doing cosplay together, we also do things separately,” said Alodia about sharing the same likes and dislikes with Ashley. “I do host and perform while she does music video and video editing. She really has a good singing voice while me, kahit mag-praktis wala. We never compete with each other like we would rather help each other do something (we are passionate about). ”

Ashley agreed by saying, “Like for instance, I play the guitar while she loves playing the piano, and we practice together.”

There were even times, Alodia amusingly recalled, that they came out of their respective rooms wearing the same outfit.  Ashley, in turn, laughingly admitted that they also borrow each other’s dresses except for shoes. “It’s because she’s two sizes bigger than me,” revealed Alodia.

They, too, try each other’s shades of make-up and wear the same hair accessories. Their mom is delighted no end with the fact that her daughters get along so well. Not once did any one of them give her a headache.

“My husband and I make sure that we share in taking care of them, naghahati kami sometimes I accompany Alodia to her commitments while he goes with Ashley or vice versa. It’s good that they are only two kung (naging) walo sila mahirap. As to their relationship as sisters, well, Alodia is a year older than Ashley so pag meron s’yang gadget na bago bibilhan din nya si Ashley, ganun sila. ”

And between the two, Ashley always ends up defending her sister whenever there are bashers or haters who post nasty comments on social media. “I’m the one who easily gets angry, s’ya naman di nya pinapansin,” Ashley said.

It is also certain that Ashley was among those who jumped up and down with joy upon hearing the good news that Alodia will soon do a movie under a Japanese film outfit.

“I’m very glad that there are opportunities for me that’s still related to what I’m doing which is cosplay and Japanese culture,” Alodia related.

According to her, the offer came after she attended a convention in Singapore.

However, Alodia can’t divulge much information regarding the project but she described it as “heartwarming and very meaningful” with her playing a Filipino character.

“But I’m not sure if I’m going to speak Tagalog, Japanese or English so we’ll see about it.”

The shooting will start next year. Asked if she will be staying in Japan for the duration of making the movie which will be funded by the Japanese government, Alodia replied that there are few scenes that will be shot in Japan and some portions will be executed in Manila.

Besides, it is not the first time for Alodia to work in the Land of the Rising Sun. Her mom was her constant companion whenever she has a commitment in Japan either for events or magazine photo shoots.

Meantime, Alodia is promoting Katinko ointment which her family has been using for body aches and pains. And since she and Ashley are into cosplay, it no longer came as a surprise seeing the Katinko posters and standees with the ladies dressed like animé characters.

“I actually designed the characters for Katinko. I drew them first before I executed them through photo shoot. Melissa Yeung (her cousin and president of Katinko) told me that she wanted magical, healing fairies with Oriental looks so I did characters na Chinese-inspired ‘yung outfit and flowy ‘yung dress.”
