WATCH: Arnee Hidalgo joins ‘The Voice PH’
MANILA, Philippines - R&B singer Arnee Hidalgo is the latest professional artist to join the second season of ABS-CBN’s reality singing show “The Voice of the Philippines.”
In the episode aired on Sunday, the 32-year-old sister of singer Jeffrey Hidalgo auditioned to “The Voice” coaches Lea Salonga, Bamboo Manaloc, Apl de ap and Sarah Geronimo with the song “Feeling Good” by Nina Simone.
She ended up with the team of coach Apl.
Arnee, who shot to fame during the early 2000s with her cover version of the Francis Magalona song “Cold Summer Nights,” said she left music in order to focus on her family.
Her son was part of the first season of “The Voice Kids.” However, he was eliminated during the battle rounds of the show.
The show has attracted a number of professional recording artists this season, but not all of them have made the cut.
The show’s Sunday episode revealed Faith Cuneta, popular for her renditions of TV soap opera theme songs, auditioned for “The Voice” but failed to impress the four coaches.
“May boses ka talaga. Maybe it wasn’t just for here,” Lea told Faith.
Other notable singers who are part of “The Voice of the Philippines” this season include Sen. Gringo Honasan’s daughter Kai, Mojofly singer Lougee Basabas, former Rivermaya vocalist Jayson Fernandez, and Rachel Alejandro’s cousin Nino.
