After short-lived romance, Andi, Bret remain friends

MANILA, Philippines - Although their romance was short-lived, Andi Eigenmann and Bret Jackson remain friends.

“Magkaibigan naman po kami ni Bret. I know naman 'yong dating issue na lumabas, but the thing is we're still friends,” Andi said in an interview on Tuesday.

“Hindi naman kung ano lang lumalabas sa news 'yon lang ang nangyari sa buhay namin. Siyempre behind it nag-uusap naman kami, magkaibigan kami.”

It was last month when Bret's best friend, James Reid, confirmed that he has stopped courting Andi and that he's really hurt about what happened.

Andi also believes that not ending up with Bret doesn't make her a bad person. Although she admitted that at the time Bret was pursuing him, she isn't ready for a new relationship.

“At that time, yes, of course,” she replied when asked if she isn't ready for a new relationship. “Marami akong pinagdadaanan sa buhay ko no'n, relationship-wise and not. So hindi ako nagmamadali. I don't want to jump into something that I'm not ready for.”

Now that they'll be working together in the Viva film “Your Place or Mine,” an adaptation of the Wattpad story of the same title, Andi was asked if it's possible for them to continue their short-lived romance.

The Kapamilya actress laughed and said that it's not always that an actress ends up with her leading man.

“I consider this a profession. It's my career and I take it seriously, and the whole time it'll be purely professional. I will not bring my personal life with what I do ito,” she explained.

Meanwhile, Andi also reacted on Jakes Ejercito's post on his Intagram account, a photo with Andi's daughter, Ellie as a birthday greeting. Ellie turned 3 last November 23.

She explained that her ex-boyfriend really has a good relationship with her daughter, and he's really fond of kids. She clarified, however, that Jake's action doesn't mean that they're back together.

“His relationship with my daughter is something beyond me, something I cannot control,” she said. “If he felt like posting a birthday greeting for my daughter, wala na akong kinalaman do'n. Kasi it's not about me, hindi naman magandang anuhin na ginagawa niya lang ang pagpo-post na 'yon dahil sa akin. It's for my daughter, entirely, purely for my daughter and not any other reason.”

When asked if there's any chance for them to be back together, Andi replied, “I just rather not think about it and talk about it. I just don't want to talk about it when I'm still unsure about everything. We'll see where the wind takes us. Ayoko magsalita nang tapos kasi hindi natin alam.”
