Paula can see clearly now

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - After wearing glasses for 15 years and about half of that wearing contact lens, Paula Peralejo finally decided to undergo a Lasik procedure. The decision came about after she suffered an eye infection from her contact lenses. It got so red, itchy and even painful while she was in Vietnam for a trip, that she had wear eyeglasses. It was extra hard for her because she was used to wearing sunnies with her lens on.

When Paula got home, she started asking her friends for a Lasik recommendation and one mentioned Shinagawa Lasik and Aesthetics. She soon found herself at its clinic and took the two-hour eye screen test. She was impressed with all the machines they were using. So, she ended up saying yes to one of her “biggest hesitations in life” — getting a Lasik.

“And now that I’ve done it, I keep asking myself what took me so long,” Paula said. “Maybe, it was the fear that I’d be awake during the procedure, or the fear that something would go wrong, but when I weighed the convenience and happiness having 20/20 vision would bring me against my fear, I can now say it’s worth taking the plunge.”

She added, “I was a bit nervous before the surgery, and even while it was going on, but I had my full trust on Dr. (Jaime) Dinglasan Jr. and Shinagawa because apart from Dr. Dinglasan’s valuable reputation in the industry, I felt safe at the idea. I tried looking up for a bad review about their Lasik procedure, and I couldn’t find any. It’s been a week after my surgery now, and I’m still on a high. Sometimes, I would forget I don’t have contact lens on; I still can’t believe I can see clearly now.”

Paula did the Z-Lasik and while there was a little pain and discomfort a few hours after the procedure, that was the last of it. She was back to normal the day after her surgery.

“I understand it can be a bit costly, but if I think about how many eyeglasses, contact lens, drops, eye tests and lens solutions I spent on, I tell myself, ‘I really should have done it sooner.’”

The Shinagawa Lasik and Aestheticd clinic in the Philippines is Shinagawa’s first major business operation outside Japan. With the establishment of the Philippine branch in Manila, Shinagawa aims to provide the best, safest, most accessible and affordable services.
