More stars, singers at the Seniors Prom

FUNFARE UPDATE - Ricky Lo - The Philippine Star

As a follow-up to yesterday’s hit feature about the Seniors Prom (Reunion) hosted by Former Pres./Manila Mayor Joseph “Erap” Estrada, Funfare Update takes note of those who rendered musical numbers including Pilita Corrales, Elizabeth Ramsey, Carmen Pateña and Wing Duo (Nikki Ross and Angie Yoingco).

Here also are pictures of those who were at the Sampaguita Events Place where the once-in-a-lifetime reunion (of the ‘60s, ‘70s and ’80s stars) was held last Sunday night, Nov. 16, but didn’t make it to the “class picture” taken after the touching video put together by Erap’s brother Jesse Ejercito and Marichu “Manay Ichu” Maceda who organized the event, showing film clips of love teams and top stars of yesteryear.

Sorely missed were Amalia Fuentes (launched as winner of the Sampaguita Pictures’ search for Miss Number One in the mid-’50s, with the late Juancho Gutierrez as Mr. Number One); Eddie Mesa and wife Rosemarie Gil who were both running a fever; Barbara Perez and husband Robert Arevalo (and other Sampaguitans like Rudy Francisco who, at 92, is the oldest living Sampaguita actor); and LVN star Lourdes Medel, now based in her native Davao City, who is wheelchair-bound with a broken leg.

The eldest attendee was LVN star Mila del Sol at 90, radiant and regal on her wheelchair, followed by fellow LVNer Lilia Dizon at 85.

During the toast, Erap and Nora Aunor proved that they had long buried the hatchet by clicking wine glasses.

Yes, there’s no business like show business.
