Bossa night at Big Dome
MANILA, Philippines - The curtains go up at 8 p.m. tomorrow at the concert stage of the Smart Araneta Coliseum in Cubao, Quezon City for what is expected to be a grand musical extravaganza featuring the timeless music of a man widely acknowledged as the ultimate bossa nova artist.
International bossa nova sensation Sergio Mendes (photo) mounts the stage with his famous band as he turns the highly-anticipated musical event into a virtual bossa nova fest and takes millions of Pinoy fans through an array of the finest bossa nova and samba tunes during the past 50 years.
The musical presentation from Ovation Productions, billed Sergio Mendes & Brasil 2014 Live In Manila!, will kick off the two-city tour that will also take the bossa nova legend and his band to Southern Philippines for a second and final performance on Nov. 16 at the Waterfront Cebu City Hotel and Casino.
To be featured as special guest is Joe Pizzulo, former lead vocalist of the group. The album was followed by Encanto in 2008 and Born Tempo in 2010.
