Sharon, KC pay tribute to Elaine Cuneta
MANILA, Philippines- It was an emotional night for the Cuneta family as they held a necrological mass for Elaine Cuneta.
Elaine died on November 5, due to internal bleeding and complications arising from abdominal surgery.
The most emotional among those who gave their eulogy for Elaine on Monday night were Sharon Cuneta and KC Concepcon.
“Fourteen years ago, I had everything: a good husband, daughter who was still my baby [KC], and a coming daughter [Frankie], and what I wanted for a career,” Sharon said. “I thought I was at the top of the world, my father [former Pasay City Mayor Pablo Cuneta] left me with all these other things I was grateful for.
“Fourteen years later, we’re all here today, my mother is in a box. And the day she died, sabi ko, I was kind of afraid of becoming an orphan today. I cannot not be someone’s baby anymore. And it’s almost Christmas and I don’t know how to spend Christmas without my mom, kasi dalawa lang kami ni Kuya [Chet] na magkapatid.”
The Megastar admitted that up to now she's still in denial that her mother has passed away. She said she's thankful for her husband Secretary Francis “Kiko” Pangilinan for supporting her and by doing the things to be done for her mother's burial.
Sharon thanked everyone who showed their support and love for her mother, especially during the last two crucial months at the hospital.
“I love you, my Mommy. Napakarami mo mang tinawag na anak, tinawag na apo, ako ang anak ni Elaine na kaisa-isang babae and I will die very proud of that,” Sharon said in her eulogy.
Super lola
KC admired how her “Mamita” surpassed all the shortcomings in her life and remained positive despite her condition.
“Until a month before she died, she was still singing to me,” she recalled. “She would sing and laugh and make kuwento so many things to me and her private nurse of eleven years. She was a strong woman and really an inspiration the way she lived her life."
The Kapamilya actress-singer-host thanked her Mamita “for being my comfort zone na nagturo sa akin kung paano ayusin sarili ko. She always gave me so much advice. Kahit hindi ko pa alam yung nangyayari, alam na niya yung problema. Titingnan lang niya ako, alam na niya.
“She was so witty. She was so funny. And I can only hope that everyone experience the love I experienced with her.”
There will be another mass today before Elaine Cuneta's remains is buried at Manila Memorial Park.
