Lohan's probation ended in necklace theft case

LOS ANGELES (AP) — A judge on Thursday ended Lindsay Lohan's probation in a necklace theft case and said she appears to be doing well with a plan to complete community service and counseling required in her last remaining criminal matter.

Superior Court Judge James R. Dabney said the actress received favorable reports from her counselor and an agency in London where she is performing community service.

He ordered her to continue to receive psychological counseling and perform the community service as part of her probation in the 2012 case involving reckless driving and lying to police. Dabney said Lohan has completed 102 hours of a 240-hour community service sentence.

The judge Lohan has "picked up the pace" recently while working with the agency that aids neglected children and disabled adults.

Over the years, Lohan was briefly jailed five times and sentenced to rehab for a variety of violations ranging from failing to perform her community service to skipping counseling sessions.

Now 28, she is in London appearing in a stage production of the play "Speed the Plow."

"The judge was pleased, the prosecutors were pleased and of course I'm pleased that Lindsay's doing well on probation, with her career, and generally with her life," Lohan's attorney Shawn Holley said after the hearing in Los Angeles.

The actress did not attend the hearing. Dabney set a Jan. 28 hearing to get another update on her progress.

Dabney said it appears Lohan has a plan to complete the terms of her sentence in the case filed after she crashed her car on the way to film a scene for the Elizabeth Taylor-Richard Burton TV biopic "Liz and Dick."

Prosecutors also charged her with lying about who was behind the wheel at the time she crashed her Porsche into a dump truck.

Lohan has been on probation since 2007, when she was arrested twice for driving under the influence. She struggled to resolve that case and was charged with stealing the necklace within days of being released from rehab in 2011.
