DC skater is ESPY’s Best Male Actions Sports Athlete

MANILA, Philippines - DC skater Nyjah Huston (photo) was awarded his second consecutive Best Male Action Sports Athlete trophy in the recent ESPYS 2014 held at Huntington Beach in California.

Huston outvoted Grant Baker (surfing), Tucker Hibbert (snowmobile), Ryan Villopoto (motocross/supercross) and David Wise (halfpipe skiing) who were nominated in the same category.

A prestigious accolade presented by American cable television network ESPN, the ESPY Award (Excellence in Sports Performance Yearly Award) recognizes the best individual and team athletic achievements and performance by top sports personalities around the world. ESPY Award winners were chosen through online fan balloting conducted from among candidates selected by the ESPY Select Nominating Committee.

Huston’s latest ESPY win solidifies his career as a top Action Sports competitor and comes in the middle of his skateboarding season.

 “I’m so stoked to have won the ESPY again this year!” said Huston.  “It feels awesome to be recognized at an event this big. I really couldn’t have done it without all the fans, everyone that voted, and the support of my sponsors.  Thanks so much!”

Apart from the ESPY award, 20-year-old Huston’s major career highlights include championship titles of two Street League events, X Games Austin and the Tampa Pro. This year, Huston was ranked No. 5 on Fox Weekly’s Top 15 Most Influential Skateboarders of All-Time.
