Yeng Constantino: Baby two years after wedding

Joyce Jimenez - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines- Yeng Constantino and Victor Asuncion have agreed to have a child two years after their wedding.

“Hindi muna para ma-enjoy namin 'yong friendship namin,” Yeng replied in an interview Tuesday, where she was asked if they are planning to have a child after getting married. “Kasi hindi kami friends talaga, e. Naging friends lang kami nang maging kami. So para mas ma-deepen pa 'yong friendship namin.

“So move in muna together, tapos two years, halfway through that two years, mga short-term plans muna namin na mag-travel kami together thrice a year.”

Meanwhile, the Kapamilya singer said the preparations for their wedding on February 14 next year is almost done.

Five months away from their big day, Yeng said that she's happy to see that her fiancé hasn't changed a bit since they became a couple last year. They were on their eighth month when they got engaged.

“Hindi siya nagbabago,” she said about Victor, smiling. “Kung sino siya no'ng una, 'yon lang talaga siya. So I'm happy na hindi nagsimula 'yong relationship namin sa best foot forward. Chill lang siya na person, totoo, honest lang talaga siya.”

Yeng said that being “at home” with each other is the secret of their relationship.

“Well ano, sa relationship namin ni Yan walang pretension,” she explained. “Si Yan ginawan niya talaga ako ng safe environment na just to be myself. Kumbaga halimbawa kung malungkot ako, I can cry, I don't have to pretend na strong ako. The same with him, kapag nando'n ako sa tabi niya he is home, he can be himself.”

Meanwhile, Yeng and Victor attended the premier night of the film “Tumbang Preso,” since she is an ambassadress of the iFight movement, an organization against human trafficking.

She became part of the organization through the film's director Kip Oebanda. They met when she was working on the independent film “Shift,” where Kip was part of the production design team.

Yeng's passion to fight human trafficking started when she read the book "Lioness Arisin" by Lisa Bevere, which she got as a gift from her fiancé when they're not yet together.

“Si Lisa Bevere isa sa ministry niya is nagre-rescue sila ng mga babae na binebenta para sa prostitusyon tapos nagka-counseling sila after. So habang binabasa ko 'yon, nagkaro'n ako ng desire na, 'gusto kong gwain 'to.'”
