Richard Yap looks forward to new roles

Joyce Jimenez - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Richard Yap is all set for another chapter in his career in show business as his long-running daytime show "Be Careful With My Heart" comes to an end.

As the ABS-CBN daytime show will end on November 28, Richard will start working on the 2014 Metro Manila Film Festival entry “Praybeyt Benjamin 2” starring Vice Ganda.

Though he still doesn’t know what his role will be, the 47-year-old actor is ready for whatever will come to his career.

“Gusto kong gumawa ng iba naman, hindi lang ma-stock up sa ganitong role,” he said in a recent interview. “Siguro konting may action, may konting comedy or something. Hindi naman all out [action], parang ‘yong kay Liam Neeson.”

Aside from upcoming projects, Sir Chief as he is popularly called, also looks forward to spending more time with his family.

“Kasi halos 'di na kami nagkikita,” he said, referring to his kids. “Nagkikita kami breakfast lang, paalis na sila tapos ako paalis na rin. Tapos minsan hindi talaga kami nagkikita kasi tulog pa ko.”

So to make up for the lost times, he is planning to spend a vacation with his family by December or early next year.

He also thanks his wife who supported him all the way.

“Hindi naman,” he replied with a laugh when asked if his wife doesn’t get jealous of his on-screen partners.

“Kasi parati kaming nag-uusap kahit nandito ako sa set. Nagtatawagan kami or nagte-text kami.  Wala naman problema sa kanya kasi alam naman niya trabaho ko, e. Kapag wala kang ginagawa, siyempre time kay Misis. So she’s very understanding kasi alam naman niya pinasok namin.”
