Daughter after Dennis Roldan's conviction: We’re doing okay

Joyce Jimenez - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Michele Gumabao remains strong after his father, Dennis Roldan, got convicted.

It was last month when her dad was sentenced to life imprisonment after being found guilty for kidnapping a three-year-old boy in 2005.

In an interview with “Aquino & Abunda Tonight” on Thursday, Michele said that it was her mother who is “keeping us together.”

“She’s very strong,” she said, admiring her mother. “She’s the one who is holding our family together. Traveling from Quezon City to South [Muntinlupa] just to visit my dad because [me and my] siblings are busy with work, school. So since she’s a house wife, she always travels to go to my dad.”

Though the head of the family is away from them, Michele says that “We’re doing okay, my family’s doing okay, my dad’s doing okay.”

She also adds, “I think we just really prepared ourselves for whatever because the case has been going on for nine years. So since it didn’t end, we didn’t stop also from preparing for whatever is to come.”

Since their dad is a public figure, being a former actor and Quezon City representative, the public could not help but comment about the issue.

Still,, Michele’s mom would always remind them to “just said respect whatever they have to say because everyone is entitled with their own opinion.”

For now, all they pray for is “the security for my dad, and really to fulfill what God has in store for him because everyone in our family is looking forward to whatever God has in store for him. This is a big challenge, but there’s a bigger blessing.”
