Brit acts to conquer Phl in 2015

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - The British invasion is just months away, mates! Due to the phenomenal success of their respective tours around the globe, four of the biggest names in Brit music are coming to Manila in 2015, namely One Direction, Ed Sheeran, The 1975 and The Vamps.

The invasion kicks off with the Manchester art-pop quartet The 1975, which has been on the road seemingly non-stop with performances across the globe since the release of its debut album in 2013.

After performing in a series of mall shows in Manila earlier this year, the Manchester four-piece is returning to their own headlining show in Jan. 24, 2015 at SM MOA Arena. The 1975’s eponymous Facedown — the first of four EPs — in 2012 led to September 2013’s self-titled debut with an upbeat, electro pop-rock sound. Its hit singles with expressive lyrics coupled with the popular tours have led to their status as Britain’s biggest new band.

Get the chance to see British teenage foursome The Vamps take the stage on Feb. 1, 2015 at SM MOA Arena. The British group unleashed its maiden effort Meet The Vamps in the UK with the record reaching No.2 on the charts on April 2014. The hit album included three singles, Can We Dance,  Wild Heart and Last Night, plus 12 other catchy tunes.

In addition, ace British singer/songwriter and multi-platinum recording artist Ed Sheeran will perform his chart-topping singles at the SM MOA Arena on March 12 next year. Best-described as an authentic blend of soulful folk undertones with a mix of hip-hop/R&B hooks, his latest album X has already won worldwide acclaim, debuting at No. 1 in the US on the Billboard 200 as well as other countries around the globe. Sheeran’s debut album + reaped multi-platinum sales around the world, and earned the British singer-songwriter three Grammy Award nominations, including nods for Song Of The Year and Best New Artist.

As one of the best-regarded British pop superstars of this generation, One Direction will perform for two consecutive nights at the SM Concert Grounds on March 21 and 22, 2015 as part of its On the Road Again Tour 2015. The promoters announced and sold tickets for the most-awaited concert on May 2014. Tickets for the first day sold out within hours after release, necessitating adding a second day to give more fans a chance to see these British lads.

Recently, One Direction announced its eagerly anticipated fourth studio album titled Four, set to be released on November 2014. Formed on the Simon Cowell-produced The X Factor in 2010, One Direction is composed of five young men from the UK: Niall Horan, Zayn Malik, Liam Payne, Harry Styles and Louis Tomlinson.
