Janno & Manilyn ‘complete’ the cycle

Back in the ’80s, minus a few pounds here and there, Janno Gibbs and Manilyn Reynes were one of the most popular teen love teams. They had an “understanding” but they ended up with other lifetime partners. Janno married Bing Loyzaga with whom he has two children while Manilyn married Aljon Jimenez by whom she has three children.

Their beautiful past contributes to the appeal of My BFF, the GMA show (airing Monday through Friday after 24 Oras) which reunites them after many years apart. Good friends now, they welcome their respective partners to appear as guests on the show. It would be fun!

“The show actually revolves around the friendship of two kids (played by Mona Louise Rey and Jillian Ward), one alive and the other comes alive to watch over her friend,” said Manilyn. “It has all the ingredients (comedy, drama and fantasy) of a perfect soap for kiddie viewers.”

Like Manilyn who has been looking forward to work with him again, Janno believes that their on-screen chemistry is still there.

“Manilyn is big deal for me,” admitted Janno. “Nakilala ako dahil sa kanya. She was already popular when I started in showbiz. Unang pasok ko love team kaagad kami. My BFF is the right comeback team-up vehicle for us, pang-family. In our scenes, nandoon pa rin ‘yung kilig na batuhan namin, just like old times.”

Aside from My BFF, which completes the Manilyn-Janno career cycle, Manilyn is also in the cast of Pepito Manaloto and Janno of Sunday All Stars, both also on GMA.

• My philosophy in life is…when in doubt, don’t!

• I lose my temper when…doing long interviews. LOL!

• When I am alone in my room I fantasize about…not being alone.

• If I were somebody else, I would be…Robert Downey Jr.

• I’m happiest when…I’ve done a good job.

• My ultimate goal is…be filthy rich, famous and good-looking. One out of three ain’t bad.

• I hate people…who are hypocrite, bitter and very negative.   

• I avoid people…who are happy making people’s lives miserable. Who are attention-seekers and users. Who seem to want to drag one down with their plasticity and negativity.

• My greatest pleasure in life is…seeing my children and husband healthy and happy.  

• My worst moment in life is…my miscarriage in 2008.

• My biggest fear is…serious illnesses.  

• I pray for…good health, abundance and happiness for everybody in the family.  

• The most important people in my life are...my children and husband.  

• If I were to be reincarnated as an animal, I would be…a dragon because it can just easily show wrath when it wants to or when it needs to.

• My most traumatic experience was…saying goodbye to our baby in 2008 (four months inside my tummy) when I had my miscarriage.  

• I deal with gossip by…just letting it slip and go, especially when I know I have nothing to worry about, because I know myself better.  

• The things I can’t do without are…my prayer books and rosary.  

• The type of men that turns me on is…one who is faithful and true, not only to me but to himself.

• The type of men that turns me off is…one who is conceited and egoistic.  

• My philosophy in life is…use it with utmost care and respect. Like how we should care about God’s feelings. Life is what we make; there’ll be choices at times. But whatever happens, never complicate things. If something (or someone) isn’t going to be helpful in your progress as a person, don’t let it or him be part of you.

• I lose my temper when…I am accused of something I didn’t do.

• When I am alone in my room I fantasize about…flying, like Superman, Supergirl.  

• If I were somebody else, I would be…Superman, Supergirl or a linguist (I want to be able to communicate with people, that’s why I love to learn different languages.)  

• I’m happiest when…I’m with my children and husband.  

• I’m saddest when…I’m far from my children and my husband.  

• My ultimate goal is… to really make it in life and enjoy it with my family.  

• What I like about myself is…my being a happy person, my patience and kindness.

• What I don’t like about myself is…my patience and kindness, too. You know how it is when people tend to step on you sometimes, when you show them everything’s fine with you. When they are given the idea that you’re easy to talk with, things like that. You also know how it is when you are not appreciated at times because you show so much patience and kindness.
