Joey de Leon asks Ice Bucket Challengers: 'Did you donate?'

Joyce Jimenez - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines- The ALS Ice Bucket Challenge is a popular trend these days.

Many celebrities and even ordinary people are accepting and nominating others to do the challenge,  a way to raise awareness and funds for the benefit of persons with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS).

The rules for the Ice Bucket Challenge are: a person will take a video of himself, saying that he accepts the challenge and doing it; then nominate or challenge other people to do the challenge; and finally  promote the website (www.alsa.org) where one could donate.

A person who accepted the challenge will donate $10, while nominees  who declined the challenge will have to donate $100.

However, many of those who have seen or  done the challenge were  apparently not aware of these rules,  prompting other celebrities to call their attention.

For instance Joey de Leon posted on Instagram  a reminder to those who plan to do the challenge.

He also  posted an explanation of the challenge's rules on Twitter.

Kapatid actress-host Tuesday Vargas also expressed the same sentiment on Instagram.

She posted a photo of people doing the challenge and shared her thoughts through the photo's caption.

In the caption she said, “In a world brimming with problems, we should help one another conserve our valuable resources and direct our efforts instead to tangible result oriented causes. Waste not, want not. #donatedonotnominate”

Actress Eugene Domingo then commented on Tuesday's post and said, “I don't get it too.”

The ALS Ice Bucket Challenge aims to raise awareness and funds to support the research for cure on the illness.
