Viva’s Lucky 13 on what makes a man a hunk

They are not your usual hunks —  you know. Bulging muscles and all. They are hunks of the cute type and Viva Films is marketing them as the Lucky 13 Hunks, cheaper by the dozen (which doesn’t mean cheap as in per kilo but as a wholesale way of promoting them).

They are featured in the Viva Films and Skylight Films’ youth-oriented movie Talk Back and You’re Dead, opening nationwide on Wednesday, Aug. 20, as a “gang” of rich kids that figures prominently in the complicated romance between its leader, Top (played by James Reid), and his girlfriend Sam (Nadine Lustre). The two other stars  are Yassi Pressman and Kapamilya Joseph Marco.

Here are the Lucky 13 Hunks on “what makes a man a hunk” (random order):

James and Joseph need no introduction but their 11 co-Hunks do.

• Josh (as Six “The Chubby Chaser” of the gang) is an actor, singer, musician, commercial model and TV host, the son of ‘80s hitmaker Gino Padilla. An Ateneo student, he has starred in two TV shows and is currently an MTV Pinoy VJ.

• Kiko (as Pip a.k.a. “Boy Pick-Up”) is an actor, singer and dancer who came from the group XLR8. He was in the cast of Diary ng Panget The Movie (with James, Nadine and Yassi, plus Andre Paras who begged off from Talk Back due to previous commitments) and the gag show WAPAK of Viva TV, and now a member of the new group Voice Boys.

• Clark (as Sun a.k.a. Mr. Sunshine) is an actor and model, was also in Diary ng Panget and ABNKKBSNPLAko?! He competed in the recent Body Shots search.

• Arkin (as Seven, “the most vain” gang member) is an actor, singer and dancer, also a former XLR8 member. He was nominated New Movie Actor of the Year 2014 (for the indie Pagari) by the PMPC Star Awards.

• Bret (as Jack, a.k.a. “The Joker”) is a Japino actor, dancer and singer who was in the 2010 Pinoy Big Brother Teen Clash (in which James emerged the winner).

• Carlo (as Dos, The Alaskador) is an actor, singer and dancer, also formerly with XLR8. He released his eponymous debut album last year and starred in the indie Dorm Boys in 2012.

• Aki (as Jun, “The Selfie King”) is also a Japino and formerly with XLR8, and has appeared in a few TV shows (Walang Tulugan, etc.).

• King (as Kyo, The Broken-Hearted Prince”) is a showbiz newbie who was picked Candy Cutie by Candy magazine.

• Cliff (as Omi, the one with “The Killer Smile”) is an actor and singer, signed up by Viva Artists Agency (VAA) after he was spotted as a Justin Bieber lookalike in It’s Showtime.

• Billy (as Vin, “The Silent Type”) was a 2013 Mister Philippines candidate and featured in Cosmo Bash.

• Ryan (as Mond, “The Flashy One”) is an actor, singer and dancer, another former XLR8 member, who has appeared in two movies, Menor de Edad and Dorm Boys.
