Performer at STAR’s 28th-year celebration

Ver Paulino - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Upcoming singer Kris Angelica, 15, performed two songs (Let It Go and Sirena) and a Regine Velasquez medley during the 28th-anniversary lunch of the Philippine STAR last Monday, July 28. Kris’ father, Krys dela Cruz (with Kris’ mom Marissa Aredas), used to work in the STAR as a librarian.

In 2009, Kris won first runner-up in the Birit Baby contest on Eat, Bulaga! She was also a three-time contender in TV5’s Talentadong Pinoy. Iconic songwriter David Foster was so impressed with Kris’ rendition of Born To Sing on social media that he invited Kris to sing at the David Foster & Friends concert at the Araneta Coliseum three years ago.

Her own versions of Let It Go (from Frozen) and Gloc 9’s Sirena on her Facebook have more than one million followers. On Saturday, Aug. 9, Kris will be a guest performer in Daniel Padilla’s show in Subic. She has just signed a five-year contract with Viva.
