Richard Gomez sad friends Jinggoy, Bong in jail

Chuck Smith - The Philippine Star
MANILA, Philippines - “I feel sad that they're in jail now. But it's an opportunity for them to prove that they're not guilty of what's being accused (of them).”

Thus said Richard Gomez in a media gathering recently when asked to comment on the plunder charges his friends Bong Revilla and Jinggoy Estrada are currently facing.

Revilla and Estrada are currently detained at the Philippine National Police Custodial Center in Camp Crame on plunder charges in connection with their alleged involvement in the pork barrel scam.

Richard said he's not severing ties with friends Bong and Jinggoy.

“They've been my friends. And, like what I said,  it's an opportunity for them to prove themselves that they're not guilty,” he said.

He added: “Just like you, we'll be in the sidelines watching what's going to happen. We'll see what's going to happen. You'll never know.”

Richard also said: “Alam mo, mahaba kasi yung judiciary process na 'yan, e. Right now they are being accused but they're not yet guilty until matapos 'yung kaso. So we really have to wait.”

“It might take long, it might take years bago natin malaman kung ano magiging verdict n'yan.”

The 48-year-old actor recently starred in the Daniel Padilla and Kathryn Bernardo movie “She's Dating a Gangster.” “You always try to get energy from other people, especially the good vibes,” he said of working with younger stars.

He is also currently working on a movie with Gretchen Barretto and John Lloyd Cruz. “Medyo mabigat yung movie. It's an acting piece,” Richard said.
