The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - The children of Comedy King Dolphy support the second International River Summit through the Dolphy Clean Up, the first game application featuring a Philippine icon.

A fun and educational game application that aims to create awareness on the importance of protecting the environment and educate the children on the proper trash segregation and disposal, the said application will be launched on July 25 at the Marikina Sports Center in a star-studded tribute titled Minsan Tayo’y Nagkasama Dolphy.

The event is supported by Smart Communications which will set up a booth that will give guests a chance to try the game app.

According to Dolphy Para sa Pinoy Foundation executive director Yenny Gonzales, the said app’s main purpose of educating the public on the importance of caring for the environment is in line with the second International River Summit with theme Reviving Rivers, Rebuilding Civilizations.

Moreover, the support of the Quizon family to the second International River Summit is further strengthened by Ronnie Quizon, through his company, Fore & Aft Management, the summits’s exclusive event and marketing arm. According to the company’s managing director, Marijo Viray, Ronnie has been a strong advocate of river protection since the Piso para sa Pasig Movement, a project of former First Lady Ming Ramos. She also added that their company was also involved in the first International River Summit held in Iloilo City in May 2012.

The second International River Summit is hosted by Marikina City in partnership with the Rotary Club of Marikina, in collaboration with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), League of Cities of the Philippines (LCP), Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) and Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA). It will be held on Nov. 19 to 21 at the Marikina Hotel and Convention Center. International and local experts in the field of river and environmental management will once again converge in the Philippines to share their expertise, knowledge, studies and best practices.
