The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines- The competition is on for this year's Mr. & Ms. Chinatown.

After a successful debut last year, 12 male and 12 female candidates are vying for the title Mr. & Ms. Chinatown 2014 and to represent the Filipino-Chinese community.

The Miss Chinatown Foundation boasts that the 24 candidates, from ages 18 to 25 years old, came from different prestigious colleges and universities.

Last year's Ms. Chinatown winner Ronili Lim Pineda says that the pageant aims to “feel the bond or relationship of the Filipino-Chinese community.”

Aside from representing the Filipino-Chinese community, Ronili says that part of the winners' task is “to strengthen the Filipino-Chinese bond. I hope during my reign I was able to encourage people to be out there and to be a help to build new relationship, to strengthen the bond.”
