Enrique Gil says Julia Barretto is his closest leading lady

MANILA, Philippines- Enrique Gil says Julia Barretto is his closest leading lady.

They two are paired in Julia's launching show “Mirabella” that will air its final episode on July 4.

Some of the actresses that were paired with the Kapamilya actor are Kathryn Bernardo in “Princess and I,” and Julia Montes in the teleserye “Muling Buksan ang Puso” and the Star Cinema film “The Reunion.”

“We have something different kasi, I can't explain it,” Enrique said about Julia, in an interview Wednesday during the “Mirabella” farewell presscon.

“Ang masasabi ko lang from then until now, sobrang naging close kami. It's just crazy kasi compared with my previous love teams, kami talaga 'yong pinaka-close. So masasabi ko na we built something at this show... At least we built that something di ba? Ewan ko, kasi naging super close kami which is super easy and it's just different.”

One member of the press said that usually, especially with their young age, love teams sometimes end up being real life couples. But Enrique said that one reasons that he doesn't pursue Julia is because he values the show so much.

“It's just kasi di ba you're working with somebody tapos it gets complicated,” he said about having reel and real relationship with a love team.

“Tapos halimbawa magkaaway kayo tapos kapag nasa taping na kayo medyo mahirap umarte kapag may di okay. So it's more of protecting the show kasi before everything else, we started with the show Mirabella so that comes first.”

But since the show is coming to an end, some teased Enrique that he can now court Julia since their project is almost over.

“Hindi ko nga alam kasi hindi talaga ako nagpaa-plano ng... I don't know. Pero hindi ako nagpa-plano na after ng show liligawan ko siya,” he said.

But he did admit that there is a possibility that he will court Julia, only he would like to enjoy the friendship they've developed in the course of the show.

“Sa simula pa lang everything is based from friendship di ba,” he said with a smile. “So kung nakabuo ka naman na nang magandang friendship it doesn't mean na it's gonna stop there, hanggang do'n lang, di ba? Pero who knows, for me it's just a good basis lang. So I think puwede.”
