Body Talk with 2014 Miss Bikini Hazel Joy Ortiz
If at first you don’t succeed, try again.
Hazel Joy Ortiz, who’s turning 19 on July 16 (Cancer), must have followed the persistence and never-say-never attitude of young women who don’t stop until they nail the coveted crown.
On her second try, Hazel bagged the 2014 Miss Bikini Philippines title, beating 27 other hopefuls in the contest’s seventh edition held at the Newport Performing Arts Theater of Resorts World Manila in Pasay City recently.
Hazel brought home P300,000 cash and other prizes. It’s not clear if Slimmers World International (SWI) will send Hazel (also declared Best in National Costume and Best in Creative Posing) as the country’s bet in the Miss Bikini International contest and/or the Miss Tourism Queen International (whose franchise was acquired by SWI from the Bb. Pilipinas Charities, Inc.). The 2013 Miss Bikini, Janicel Lubina (featured in the Slimmers World ads) didn’t compete abroad.
“I come from a hard-working family,†said Hazel who stands 5’8â€; weighs 115 lbs.; measures 33-22.5-35; and wears small-size shirt and size-9 shoes. She’s a B.S. Management senior at the Jose Rizal University where she was Miss JRU last year and her school’s bet in the Miss NCAA (National Collegiate Athletic Association).
What’s your most unforgettable moment during the Miss Bikini contest?
“The crowning moment.â€
How did you prepare for the contest?
“Discipline. A lot of discipline. Preparations included having a balanced meal plan, rigorous fitness training, and skin and body treatments. I also went through a personality-development program.â€
Is it hard to maintain a body like yours? (Do you starve yourself to maintain it?)
“No, it is not hard if you have the patience and determination. And food, which includes eating right and eating on time, is very essential.â€
What sort of diet do you regularly follow?
“I don’t diet; rather, I eat healthy and nutritious food.â€
What’s usually for breakfast, lunch and dinner?
“More carbs for lunch and more protein during dinner. Then, I eat fibrous food such as salads and fruits. I also drink a lot of fresh juice and milk.â€
Snacks in-between?
“Fruits, juice and milk.â€
How much water do you take per day?
“At least 10 glasses.â€
Food that you usually crave for?
“Sometimes, I crave for fried chicken and chocolate.â€
What vitamins do you take?
“Antioxidants and vitamin C.â€
What workout do you do?
“I work out three to four times per week.â€
Your body looks perfect. Any part that needs improvement?
“I am ok with my body.â€
And the most vulnerable part?
“My legs.â€
Favorite part of your body?
“My waist.â€
What part of a guy’s body do you notice first?
“I always notice a man’s nice butt.â€
And what turns you off?
“I do not like guys with chicken legs.â€
How do you take care of your skin?
“By proper skin regimen and treatment.â€
Any other beauty secrets?
“You need to smile a lot and always have a positive mindset. I believe that makes a person more beautiful.â€
How much sleep do you get per night?
“As much as possible I try to get eight hours.â€
Favorite sleepwear?
“Anything comfortable.â€
How many pillows do you sleep with?
“Four.â€
Do you snore?
“I trust that I don’t.â€
Do you talk in your sleep?
“No, I don’t.â€
Do you sleepwalk?
“Thank heavens, I don’t.â€
Last thing that you do before you got to sleep?
“I pray.â€
And the first thing that you do as soon as you wake up?
“I pray again and thank God for a brand-new day.â€
How do you cope with stress?
“I dance.â€
Favorite hideaway?
“My room.â€
Do you have a nightlife?
“From time to time, I go out with my friends but not very often.â€

“Taylor Lautner, Chris Hemsworth and Dingdong Dantes.â€
And three women that you think have bodies as nice as yours.
“Parul Shah, Miranda Kerr and Lovi Poe.â€
