JC de Vera wants to prove he deserves revitalized career

MANILA, Philippines - “Mabait sa akin si Lord.”

 

Thus said JC De Vera when asked about his current big projects with ABS-CBN during a media gathering recently.

 

The 28-year-old actor, who moved from TV5 to ABS-CBN last year, is part of two shows on the Kapamilya network: the primetime drama “The Legal Wife” and the afternoon soap opera “Moon of Desire.”

 

This made a few skeptics speculate that he is currently a favorite in the network as he seemingly bypassed other actors for the roles in the ongoing daily shows.

 

JC explained that the two shows were not meant to air simultaneously. “The Legal Wife,” he said, was originally slated to start production last July or August, while the “Moon of Desire” would start taping December, but production for “The Legal Wife” got delayed.

 

“Naka-set na yung dalawang shows na yun, e na-delay ipalabas yung 'The Legal Wife.' Inabot ng 'The Legal Wife' ang 'Moon of Desire,' kaya sila nag-overlap. Nagkataon lang na dalawa yung shows ko,” he explained.

 

JC also said: “Wala naman akong masamang intensyon sa iba. Gusto ko lang magtrabaho. Gusto ko lang gawin ang dapat kong gawin.”

The “So It's You” star added he remains grateful to TV5 and GMA-7, his former home networks, despite achieving immediate success in ABS-CBN. 

 

“Very thankful ako sa lahat. Dahil kung hindi dahil sa kanila, wala rin ako dito,” he said. “Never akong nakalimot kung saan ako nanggaling, kung saan ako nagsimula, kung sino yung mga taong tumulong sa akin.”

 

He's particularly thankful to the Kapatid network, which served as his network for almost three years after leaving GMA-7 in 2010.

 

Explaining that he moved networks in other to work and earn money, JC further said: “Wala akong regret na pumunta ako ng TV5 dahil napakaganda ng mga opportunity na binigay nila sa akin. Without those opportunities, hindi ako magkakaroon ng ganitong klaseng skill. Kumbaga, marami silang naituro sa akin na dala ko ngayon.”

 

He said of his network transfer, “Wala akong ginawang madumi, doon ko kayang iprove yung sarili ko.”

 

“Nasa industry tayo na kailangan mo magtrabaho para kumita. And hindi ako magiging iprokritong tao na sasabihin ko na hindi ko kailangan ng pera.”

 

“Syempre kung saan may work, doon ka pupunta.” 

  

JC spoke to the press recently to promote Tomato Time, the watchline of local retail brand Tomato.
