The haunting of San Rafael Church

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Join documentarist Jay Taruc and his team as they investigate the reported hauntings and shed light on supernatural mysteries on GMA 7’s I-Witness which airs Saturdays after Celebrity Bluff.

In the quaint town of San Rafael, Bulacan, locals are in awe of their church because of its remarkable history. The church is not only a spiritual haven for the faithful but also a refuge for restless souls.

The San Juan De Dios Church, also known as San Rafael Church, stood as a silent witness to the gruesome massacre of some 800 Bulaceños in 1896. It is believed that some actual events that occurred in the church served as the inspiration of the National Hero Jose Rizal for his book Noli Me Tangere.

There are reported sightings of ghost children playing, a kneeling nun and other entities who wander the grounds of the church and the adjacent convent.
