Arnold Clavio says he has no political ambition

Chuck Smith - The Philippine Star
MANILA, Philippines – He admits receiving offers from political parties to run for office during election season, but GMA-7 news anchor Arnold Clavio said entering politics is not part of his plans right now.

“Wala akong political ambition,” he told said during the press conference of IGan ng Pilipinas Foundation and RiteMed Philippines on Wednesday, May 7.

He added, “Kada election naman, tatawagan ko ni ganito, ni ganyan. Kaya lang, pag inisip mo, ano ngayon ang impression sa mga politician, di ba?”

Arnold—who currently co-hosts the morning program “Unang Hirit” and the evening talk show “Tonight with Arnold Clavio”—said he is happy with his in work in GMA-7.

Using his recent controversy with Janet Napoles lawyer Alfredo Villamayor, Arnold said he feels his work as a journalist has made an impact in the public.

It can be remembered that last November, Arnold was criticized on social media for his interview with Villamayor in “Unang Hirit.” Netizens dubbed the interview as rude and impolite.

“Kapag hinimay mo yung pagiging bastos, alisin mo yun, ano ba yung nakuha mo doon? Mas lalong tumapang yung tao,” he said.

“Kaya ko nga dati, matatakot ako sa public place, baka andun yung mga nambully sa akin. Pero parang dumami pa nga yung nagpapicture. 'Okay lang yun, Igan.' Ito siguro yung mga walang computer,” Arnold quipped.

Arnold talked to the press to launch the partnership of IGan ng Pilipinas Foundation and RiteMed Philippines with the Adopt-A-Child with Diabetes Program of the Philippine General-Hospital.
