ABS-CBN bags 5 awards at New York Festivals

MANILA, Philippines - ABS-CBN bagged five recognitions in the prestigious New York Festivals (NYF), including two world medals for the special documentary, Agosto Beinte Uno: Ang Pagpatay kay Ninoy Aquino (The Assasination of Ninoy Aquino) and investigative program Failon Ngayon (Failon Today) last week.

The docu Agosto Beinte-Uno that revisited the killing of former Sen. Benigno “Ninoy” Aquino Jr. won a silver world medal in the Graphic Design: Promotion/Open and ID category. It also received a finalist certificate in the Biography/Profiles category.

Ted Failon’s weekly investigative program Failon Ngayon won bronze in the Current Affairs category for the episode Tagas ng Minahan (Mine Leaks) that probed the environmental hazards caused by mining spills.

Finalist Certificates were also awarded to Matanglawin (Eye of the Eagle) in the Educational/Instructional category for its Elephants episode, and ABS-CBN Creative Communications Management for its plug Sprout in the Green Promotion category.

The NYF, given by International Television & Film Awards, is now on its 57th year of recognizing the World’s Best TV & Films.
