Robi saddened about being replaced in 'The Voice Kids'; back to hosting MYX

MANILA, Philippines- Robi Domingo admits that he was saddened about being replaced as host in the upcoming talent show “The Voice Kids.”

Robi hosted the first season of “The Voice” with Alex Gonzaga. But this year, Alex will be co-hosting with Luis Manzano, who hosted the recently concluded game show “Minute to Win It.”

“Oo naman, nalungkot ako sobra,” Robi replied when asked if he was saddened about being replaced as host for “The Voice Kids.”

He then relates that, “kasi prior to that one, prior to PBB, the management talked to me that I have to prepare... wala naman silang sinasabi. But they're telling me to prepare, to read stuff about kids, to watch episodes of The Voice Kids.

“I've been doing that for almost a month already. Afterwards they tell me, 'dinner tayo.' It can only go two ways, e, dinner tayo then contract or dinner tayo then sorry, pat on the back. Then 'yon ang nangyari sa akin, pat on the back.”

The good news is that, “come The Voice Season 2, I'll be there,” he said.

Aside from that, his fans will be seeing more of Robi again when the “Pinoy Big Brither Pinoy Edition: All In” starts airing. Its launch will be on April 27, a day after the “Bigating Finale” of “The Biggest Loser Pinoy Edition: Doubles” which will be held on April 26, Saturday.

Back to MYX!

Meanwhile, Robi is also back to hosting ABS-CBN's music channel MYX.

“I feel so honored and happy to be back with my playground, training ground, and my family,” he said about his comeback.

After leaving the “Pinoy Big Brother” house in 2008, Robi started appearing on the Sunday variety show “ASAP” and was part of the TV show “My Girl.”

But Robi's biggest break in hosting came when he joined  MYX the same year, which he landed upon the prodding of his handler then.

“I was in ASAP, there's this audition going on in the ABS-CBN main building,” he recalled. “My handler told me to join. Before, hindi ako marunong magsalita [sa harap ng camera]. I can't memorize my spiels because I was focused on school, but everything just fell in to place.”

However, busy with his studies, Robi was unable to give his full attention to hosting for the channel, so he was “released”.

“Without MYX, feeling ko, I wouldn't be hosting,” Robi confessed. “I must admit, I was not as good as compared to now. [Dati] utal-utal ako, I was not performing, really because I was busy with school and other stuff.

“But after they told me that they have to release me for a while, I felt the urge to go back and to tell them that, 'hey! I'll do better. That I promise you guys.'”

Robi promises his fans that whenever they watch him on MYX or on any of his hosting stints, “they will expect to see the real me. I'm going to  be all out. What you see on TV is going to be me, the real me.”
