Gabby Eigenmann to star in his first indie film

MANILA, Philippines- After waiting for some time,  Gabby Eigenmann is finally going to star in his first independent film.

He will be playing a drug lord syndicate in Director Louie Ignacio’s film “Asintado.” The film is Ignacio's entry to this year’s Cinemalaya Director’s Showcase category.

“I’ve been itching to do an indie talaga,” Gabby said in a recent interview. “I’ve been doing TV [projects] for the longest time, and I’ve done a handful of movies in my entire career.”

Aside from his desire to do an indie film, Gabby was also excited to work with Louie, who directed the movie.

“Well convincing factor is not an issue, e,” he replied when asked what convinced him to accept the project. “Kasi bihira ako ma-offeran ng indie and direk Louie is a good friend of mine.”

He recalled the time when Louie told him about the project. “Sobrang excited siya about it!” he said with a big smile.

“We have worked in a lot of soap operas na, and sa dami naming pinagsamahan and he always considered me as his favorite, sabi niya. Natuwa naman ako na he considered me na isama sa project na ‘to.”

Gabby has been very visible on TV with a number of soap operas he has done with GMA-7.

But when asked if he prefers TV than movies he immediately replied, “hindi naman.”"Kasi work is there [sa TV projects]. Ako naman I’ve been dealing with show business as a professional talaga, e.

“It’s a job, so kung kailanganin ako to do a project especially with my home network na TV, siyempre go lang nang go.”

He also added that, “[the] competition now-a-days is either you get younger or you get better. So in my case, I just do my job and do the best that I can with every project that is given to me.”
