Philtranco looking for more ‘Bullocks’

MANILA, Philippines - Philtranco is ready to cast “the next Sandra Bullock” —  who starred as the quick-thinking lady bus driver in the smash hit Speed — in its growing fleet of buses. Bullock (photo) captured international attention in this role, which reflected the growing number of women behind the wheel in the US and elsewhere.

There’s also a scientific reason for recruiting more “leading lady” drivers. A recent study revealed that women are three times less likely to be involved in reckless driving; while only half as many women are likely to be involved in speeding, running stoplights, or not yielding at intersections.

Fifty new state-of-the-art Nissan 1,300 buses were recently acquired to boost Philtranco’s line. The firm has also rolled out a new look for its buses. The new buses also come with a TV screen and on-board WiFi service.
