Karylle & Yael seal it with a kiss

MANILA, Philippines - At exactly 3:31 in the afternoon yesterday, the doors of the San Antonio de Padua Church in Silang, Cavite opened to welcome Karylle, the bride of Sponge Cola vocalist Yael Yuzon, who was undeniably at her most beautiful during the wedding rites. The singer-actress-TV host, who was wearing a creation by Dubai-based designer Furne One, was the picture of a blushing bride overjoyed with all the love surrounding her.

Unlike other weddings, Karylle chose to forego the traditional bridal march by asking Sponge Cola’s vocalist to play “organic” music as she walked down the aisle. Her parents, mother Zsa Zsa Padilla and father Dr. Modesto Tatlonghari, then escorted her to the groom, who eagerly waited in front of the altar.

Karylle’s lola Kating Perez-Padilla flew in from the US to witness the ceremony.

Attended by around 300 of their closest family and friends, the wedding rites officiated by Fr. Eugene Elivera, was simple, straightforward, romantic and sincere — just the way the couple wanted it to be.

Karylle and Yael’s celebrity ninongs and ninangs came in full force — Kris Aquino, Dr. Vicki Belo, Bobet Vidanes (who came late that Vice Ganda stood as proxy), Kim Atienza, German Moreno, Jose Mari Chan, Maricel Laxa-Pangilinan, Gary Valenciano, Ryan Cayabyab, Ricky Reyes, Robin Padilla, Lorna Tolentino, Art Acuña, Audie Gemora, Carlo Orosa, plus record executives Kathleen Dy-Go, Ramon Chuaying, Jesmon Chua, Peter Chan, among others.

Carlo, who is also Karylle’s manager, said that what brought tears to his eyes, was watching Karylle’s separated parents give her away.

Karylle’s sisters Nicole and Zia Quizon served as maids of honor while Paolo Valenciano was best man. The secondary sponsors were Anne Curtis, Tim Yap, Donna Cruz with husband Yong Larrazabal, and radio personalities Gino Quillamor and Tin Gamboa.

It’s Showtime co-hosts Eric Tai, Teddy Corpus, Billy Crawford and Ryan Bang led the Prayers of the Faithful. They were joined by other Showtime hosts Coleen Garcia and Jugs Jugueta. 

Friends of the couple also trooped to the event — bridesmaids Iza Calzado and Divine Lee, groomsmen Robin Nievera, Jay-R, with Christian Bautista, Diana Zubiri, Mariel Rodriguez, Amy Perez, Gino Padilla, Victor Basa, among others.

In Fr. Eugene’s homily, he challenged Karylle and Yael to always be “best friends.” To which the two replied, “We do.”
