Sarah sings Star Life

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - “I’ve always been passionate about music, so I’m very happy that I was chosen (to headline the campaign),” said Sarah Geronimo about SM Development Corp.’s (SMDC) music marketing campaign titled Star Life in a recently-held photo shoot, attended by select print and online media.

Star Life is an upbeat song and its music video is replete with colorful, engaging graphics that fit Sarah’s bubbly personality. It showcases her “pop star” voice and dance moves that remind one of the production numbers she did in her Sunday variety show Sarah G. The cool tune is a perfect background to start your day right and to be inspired to live a “Star Life.”

So far, more than 153,000 have watched and listened to the Star Life music video on YouTube.

Asked what’s her idea of living a star life, Sarah replied, “It doesn’t mean you have to be a millionaire to have (or enjoy) a good life or live a star life. You don’t need to own a mansion to live a good life with your loved ones. Not everyone can have a (grand) house. What’s important is, your place should be of quality.”

After all, what makes the house a home is the people who dwell in it. But every hardworking Filipino, like Sarah, deserves a decent roof over his head. By the way, Sarah will grace the Philippine International Pyromusical Competition tomorrow, March 22, 7:30 p.m. at the SM Mall of Asia’s SM by the Bay. Expect her to give everyone a sample of Star Life.

Sarah revealed she intends to buy condominium units as investments. This is a good fall back, especially when offers come few and in between. “When I turn 30,” was Sarah’s reply on the time she would have her own place.

According to SMDC guys, the Star Life campaign is the realization and combination of its previous campaigns such as Live like a Star, Five-Star and Twice as Bright.

Live like a Star promises one to live a celebrity’s life. Five Star showcases what a buyer can expect in an SMDC unit like a lobby (at Mezza Residences) and a view (at Wind Residences). Twice as Bright, on the other hand, gives one twice or more than what competition can offer like a grand lobby, a sky lounge and five swimming pools.

As everybody knows, Sarah will head The Voice of the Philippines Kids Edition, along with coaches Bamboo and Lea Salonga. It will be a challenging task for the trio since they will be mentoring children who are playful and impressionable. For sure, it’s also inspiring and heartbreaking when they explain why they did turn or didn’t turn to a kiddie aspirant. Sarah also shared that the blind auditions have already started. The Season Two of The Voice of the Philippines, which produced its first-ever winner Mitoy Yonting and runner-up Klarisse de Guzman, comes right after the special edition.

“Mahirap po kasing balansehin (It’s tough to balance it),” said Sarah on her coaching style. “When you’re too honest or frank, the contestants might take it negatively. (People) might think masyado (akong) nagmamarunong. When you only praise the contestant (commenting) on the positive performance, you appear to be masyadong mabait. I think I should be in the middle, balance lang, giving positive and negative comments.”

On toying the idea of her doing the blind audition for The Voice US Edition and getting a four-chair turn from the coaches Adam Levine, Blake Shelton, Shakira and Usher, Sarah said, “Mahirap naman yon, kasi gusto ko silang lahat (It’s difficult to choose which coach. I like them all). Kung sino na lang po ang unang iikot sa kanila (I will pick the coach who makes the first turn).”

Given the showbiz path Sarah has successfully trodden, it’s definitely a star life that she wishes everyone to experience. As her new song Star Life goes, “Lights in the sky, stars are shinin so bright. Close your eyes, make a wish and your dreams will come alive Oh it’s the good life, by the good guys… Be who you are, feel like a star.”
