Here comes the First Belo Bride

When Karylle and Yael Yuzon exchange “I do’s” today at a calculatedly private wedding in the outskirts of Metro Manila, they will march down the aisle to a medley of songs by SpongeCola, of which Yael is the front man, including Singapore Sling (Dahil Kilala Na Kita) from the band’s latest Universal Records album.

“When people were asking me what the peg is of our wedding,” said the blushing bride in an exclusive interview with The STAR, “I would say, it’s the song Singapore Sling. That song evokes a sunny day full of love.”

Singapore is memorable to the couple because during their early years of going steady, Yael would visit Karylle in the Lion City where she was doing the TV show Kitchen Musical with Christian Bautista.

“She will be a fa-BELO-usly radiant bride,” said Dr. Vicki Belo who will be among the 42 principal sponsors at the wedding which caps a three-year romance.

Yes, that beautiful bride shown in side view on giant Belo billboards all over the metropolis is Karylle whose identity is revealed only as a scoop arranged between Dr. Vicki and The STAR.

“Karylle is the epitome of the positive, a picture of happiness, especially when it comes to matters of the heart,” added Vicki who herself is exuding a very positive aura these days, looking forward to a pilgrimage to the Holy Land during the Lenten Season with her now-just-good-friend Hayden Kho. (Also in the same pilgrimage are Sen. Bong Revilla and his wife Cavite Rep. Lani Mercado.) “While Karylle and Yael’s relationship was kept as private as possible all these years in a successful effort to nurture and shield it from sometimes harsh public scrutiny, it is clearly an interesting match made in heaven between a sweet, classy lady and an edgy, brainy rocker.”

When Vicki accepted the invitation to become one of the sponsors, she had a big surprise up her sleeves. Like the couple, Vicki believes in “dreams and happy endings,” both of which her medical clinic stands for given how clients are all-smiles when they are turned into the best versions of themselves every after going through the “Belo Touch.”

As the first Belo Bride, Karylle is likewise the first “to luxuriate in Belo’s very first collection of treatments and procedures that specifically aims to make brides become the most beautiful on their wedding day.” Karylle’s gown is backless, but she had problems with her uneven skin tone that she got from running. So to make sure everything is fair and even on her wedding day, she had sessions of “Wet & Dry Dermabrasion” which removes dead skin cells so the skin glows and becomes even and fairer.
