Nikki Gil joins Universal Records

MANILA, Philippines - Four years after her Somebody to Love album, Nikki Gil returns to the music scene with a new “family.”

Nikki recently signed up with Universal Records, in anticipation of a new album to be released mid-year. She sees herself being more hands-on with her new compilation of originals and covers that will showcase her technical and emotional maturity. “Definitely with the choice of songs, I’ll be very much involved. It’s great to be working with a family that’s been recognized as the industry leader and the cradle of OPM.”

Nikki also expects to break boundaries and cut through a wider market among avid OPM listeners.

She has garnered rave reviews for her performances in teleseryes Apoy Sa Dagat, Maalaala Mo Kaya and Maria Mercedes, and the indie film, Badil.

The Kapamilya remains humble to take all her plaudits with a grain of salt. She says, “I still have my moments where I’ll actually feel like I could have done things differently. And that’s a good thing. Constructive discontent is always a good thing.”
