Months after breakup with Billy, Nikki admits she’s dating again

MANILA, Philippines – Nikki Gil revealed she is currently dating someone, nine months after her split with Billy Crawford.

In an episode of ABS-CBN’s morning talk show “Kris TV” aired Wednesday, February 19, Nikki admitted she is seeing someone romantically after host Kris Aquino said she saw the Kapamilya star in a mall with a non-showbiz guy recently.

The actress-singer said she and the non-showbiz guy have a lot of common friends dating back her college days.

“And everybody assumed that kilala na naming yung isa’t isa pero hindi talaga,” Nikki said. She further described the guy as a 29-year-old who has “an adult job, sobrang different from what we do.”

Asked if she wasn’t scared to date again after her breakup with Billy, Nikki said: “You know what, no. Surprisingly for me, hindi. Kasi parang alam ko na it’s not like that all the time.”

She added, “Ito (relationship with Billy), nagkataon lang pero love isn’t supposed to be like this. Hindi siya dapat masakit, hindi ka dapat umiiyak.”

Nikki also admitted she tried to play the dating game after her split with the “It’s Showtime” host, but said it wasn’t for her.

“Hindi ako susubok ng susubok kasi alam ko kung ano yung gusto ko,” she explained

“It felt right,” Nikki said about dating the unnamed non-showbiz guy.

Nikki and Billy shocked show business last year when they broke up last July, after being in a relationship for almost five years. The two didn’t divulge the exact reason for their split, although the Kapamilya actress said a “difference in values” caused the breakup. In a magazine interview last December, Nikki also insinuated that Billy cheated on her.

Recently, Billy also admitted he’s courting “It’s Showtime” co-host Coleen Garcia.

The 26-year-old artist said her experience with Billy already served as a “filter” when it comes to her dating life.

“Nafifilter na yung mga idadate mo kasi parang for them to even come up to you must mean they mean business,” she told “Kris TV.”
