Luis on Angel: ‘I’m proudly her boyfriend’

MANILA, Philippines – Luis Manzano revealed that he and Angel Locsin are officially a couple again.

“I’m proudly her boyfriend,” the actor-TV host said when asked about the status of his relationship with Angel during an interview with ABS-CBN’s showbiz talk show “Buzz ng Bayan” on Sunday, February 16.

Their reconciliation came just a few weeks after Angel revealed she still has feelings for Luis during a press conference for her show “The Legal Wife.”

The actor-TV host explained their “spark was rekindled” after the two resumed communication with each other early this year. This was after two to three years of not talking to each other following their breakup.

“Some people believed kasi na when she came out on TV saying na mahal pa niya ako, na I had no idea, na it was the first time for us to talk after so long. But when came on TV, we were already talking before, we were already spending time with each other,” Luis said. “I would like to think that we were already falling in love once again.”

Luis and Angel first became a couple in 2007 but they broke up in 2009.

After their breakup, Angel entered into a relationship with football player Phil Younghusband. Meanwhile, Luis became GMA-7 actress’ Jennylyn Mercado’s boyfriend.

However, both relationships ended October last year. This prompted talks that Luis was the reason for Angel and Phil’s breakup. There were also speculations that Angel was behind the Luis and Jennylyn split.

But the “Minute It to Win It” host denied these rumors, reiterating that he and Angel had no communication two to three years following their breakup.

“With everything being said and done by so many people, Jen and I know the real reason why we broke up,” he said. “Our families know the reason why we broke up. Our friends, people close to us know the reason why we broke up. And we are definitely sure it’s not Angel.”

Luis added: “If you look at it from a viewer’s standpoint, mukhang pinagusapan (yung reconciliation) considering how close the breakup was. Ako, I didn’t even know na nag-break sila. But we also considered our partners dear to us.”

“Pero I guess they broke up for a reason, we broke up for a reason, and I guess the reason is us pa rin through chance, through destiny.”

Are they planning to get married soon? “This year, maybe not. 2015, we’ll call you,” Luis told “Buzz ng Bayan” host Boy Abunda.
