‘Need For Speed’ now a motion picture
MANILA, Philippines- "Need ofor Speed", one of the most-loved video games, is now a movie.
EA Entertainment was first hesitant to turn the video game in to a movie as most of the time they were not successful.
So the film’s producer, Patrick O’Brien, then decided to look for the perfect screenwriters for the film who happens to be John and George Gatins, who have knowledge of cars since they own an auto shop.
“What was great about the writing process is that the various iterations of the video game don’t provide a lot of narrative which created an open slate for George and myself to infuse the characters into this world,†John said describing the writing process.
Visualizing the whole film is director Scott Waugh, who promises the audience to experience the thrill of riding a race car.
“Capturing the action sequences in the camera works on a couple levels,†he explains. “First, there’s an innate trigger in humans when we know something is not real, no matter how good it may look. And on a visceral level you can tell when an actor is in a real environment.
“We went back out on the road, travelling at high speeds and hanging out the side of the car to film this. I wanted the audience to really feel what it’s like to drive 230 miles per hour.â€
“Need For Speed†is a story about Tobey Marshall, a guy who runs a family auto shop and an underground racer. Everything is going well in his life until he was imprisoned for a crime he didn’t commit. He then seeks vengeance to bring down his enemies.
“Need For Speed†will be in cinemas on March 12.
