Why mommy Raquel does not want Alyssa for daughter Charice

MANILA, Philippines – Raquel Pempengco revealed why she does not approve of singer Alyssa Quijano for her daughter Charice.

Charice admitted she is in a relationship with Alyssa when she came out as a lesbian last year.

The 21-year-old singer had a falling out with her family following her coming out.

In earlier interviews with the press, the mother of the international sensation has been vocal about her disapproval of Alyssa, a finalist in 2012 singing reality show “X Factor Philippines,” where Charice served as a judge.

In an interview with ABS-CBN’s showbiz talk show “Buzz ng Bayan,” Raquel said Alyssa and her mother used to badmouth Charice back when the two were still competing in singing contests.

The two competed in the 2005 ABS-CBN singing show “Little Big Star.”

“Kasi, nung time na nag-a-undergo siya ng mga singing contests, ang nanay niya nagkakaroon kami ng misunderstanding. Nakipagtalo na rin ako dahil gusto nilang i-out sa ‘Little Big Star’ si Charice,” she explained.

Raquel added: “After that, nasa America kami, ininvite ko pa sina Alyssa at ang nanay niya sa isang swimming party. Nagulat pa si Charice. ‘Bakit ninyo ininvite yan, alam ninyo naman na yan ang kaaway ko nung ‘Little Miss Star.’ Sinabi ko naman sa kanya na let bygones be bygone.”

Raquel believes Alyssa’s intentions for Charice are not pure.

“May mga contests pa na nilalait-lait ni Alyssa si Charice… Pero ngayon, gina-grab niya yung opportunity para dumakit sa iyo (Charice). Hindi ko matatanggap yun.”

However, she clarified that she has long accepted Charice for who she is.

“Kung sa acceptance, matagal ko nang na-accept kung sino si Charice,” she said.

Raquel added that she and Charice’s brother Carl have already accepted that the “Pyramid” singer no longer lives with them.

“Siguro darating din naman ang panahon na kung hindi ko matanggap si Alyssa na isipin niya na lang na mahal namin siya (Charice),” she said.

And Raquel’s message to Alyssa? “Kung talagang mahal niya si Charice, bubuuin niya ang pamilyang winasak niya.”
