NTDR II Trilogy championship set

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Continuing what it started two years ago, Nature’s Trail Discovery Run (NTDR) has once again attracted 7,000 runners in the first two stages of the trilogy to join in the opening of the third leg or the championship series set on Jan. 12 at Daranak Falls and Batlag Falls. The more than seven-month, three-leg series will reveal this year’s winners in the final leg.

The championship event will also include the recognition of Top Trail Runners of the Year, Trail Runner of the Year and Trailblazers. Leading runners in the male division to take home the trilogy crown and Trail Runners of the Year are Gerald Sabal for the 50k Ultra and Juniery Villalon for the 10k. They were named winners in the first and second leg. Another contender, Manolito Divina under the 21k male was the winner in the first leg. An interesting match-up has developed in the female division between first leg winner Alexandria Ahongon and second leg champ Donita Raye Padilla. For the 10k, Ems Nilisguin seems to once again clinch the top spot like what she did in the first and second legs.

NTDR II Trilogy Championship is presented by local government unit partners and its officers headed by Tanay mayor Rafael Tanjuatco. Tanay has focused on its tourism program for its economic development. Sports activities such as the NTDR II and other trail running race events organized by Pimco Sporting Events have attracted local and foreign runners who discovered Tanay as the most favorable destination for weekend mountain sports and recreation.
