Pinoy dance crew tops int’l hip-hop tilt
MANILA, Philippines - Headed by its coaches, Angelica Arda and MJ Arda, A-TEAM won in the recent hip-hop dance competition, World Supremacy Battlegrounds (WSB) 2013, held at the Sports Centre, Sydney Olympic Park in Australia last Dec. 8. Having joined two categories, A-TEAM bested 15 other teams and was crowned champions in the varsity division, and bagged the bronze medal in the open division. The team was awarded with trophies, medals, a championship belt and a cash prize of AUD1,500. WSB is the most prestigious hip-hop dance competition in the Southern Hemisphere participated in by several countries such as Australia, New Zealand, Malaysia, Japan, Guam and the Philippines.
The members of the varsity team include Migs Cabanban, Lexus Diestro, Jj Generoso, Maw Planes, Kisha Prats, Ryan Ramos, Angela Rayos del Sol, Sef Remollo, Bea Te, Kevin Toy and Denise Uson, while the open team is composed of Angelica Arda, MJ Arda, Ren Asilum, Dhztine Bernardino, Paolo Escaño and Nash Yambao.
The victory, of course, would not have been possible without the help of the team’s generous sponsors, such as SM Skydome, Tribal, Hawk Gear, Black Beauty, Rexona, Lactacyd, Jollibee, San Miguel Corporation, Tender Juicy Hotdog, San Mig Coffee, Ginebra San Miguel, That’s Phresh, Magnolia, Cha Dao Tea Place, Vietura Aesthetic Lifestlya, Jennefer dela Cruz Dental Clinic, Coca-Cola, Status Magazine and When In Manila.
A-TEAM would also like to extend its gratitude to the parents, families, friends and supporters, whose unceasing belief and support fueled the team from the very beginning.
Other Philippine teams also dominated the other division in WSB. INDK took the gold in the Monster Crew Division, while GUDC Project 13 landed fourth place. In the open division, FMD Extreme was awarded gold, while Rockstars and Flipendemic Kru ranked second and fourth, respectively.
