Ogie optimistic despite delayed airing of 'The Gift'

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines- Ogie Alcasid has yet to know what really is the reason behind the delay of his TV5 drama series “The Gift.”

“Hindi ko pa sila nakakausap, e,” Ogie said in an interview Friday afternoon. “So kung ano lang naririnig ko ‘no which is ang una dahil nga sa PBA, na-pre-empt.”

Though he remains positive, Ogie doesn’t discount the possibility that the management does not want to push through with the show because they did not like the drama series' theme.

“Ako tanggap ko kahit ano,” he said on TV5 management’s possible reasons in delaying the airing of his show.

“Alam mo yung maganda at panget very subjective yan, ano. But if in their eyes, this is their network and sila ang boss, sila ang nakakaalam kung anong nararapat na nababagay sa gusto nilang image ng TV5. Ako’y sundalo lang.”

Though one of his shows is on hold, two of Ogie’s shows are doing well. One is “Loko Mo Ko Unli,” which is the network’s gag show.

The gag show that’s starting to gain a strong following is now holding school tours to court more audience.

Ogie also said that he is positive with his other show, “The Singer and the Songwriter,” which, he said, is becoming to be “more fun.”

“Kasi mas kabisado na namin yung isa’t isa,” he said referring to his co-host Sharon Cuneta. “Kasi dati nagkakapaan pa kami, although we’re friends, but we have different styles kasi.”

Meanwhile, Ogie is very happy about the positive response of the people to the online auction that his wife Regine Velasquez is doing.

“Baka maka-one point something [million] si misis dito!” he proudly said. “Yung fans ni Regine ang yayaman!” he commented and then laughed.

Regine auctioned her slightly used bags, clothes, and shoes as well as Ogie and Nate’s slightly used stuff.
