Sam Milby, Jessy Mendiola insist: ‘We’re not yet a couple’

MANILA, Philippines – Sam Milby assures his fans and the entertainment press that he won’t keep the status of his relationship with Jessy Mendiola a secret if ever they become a couple.

Speaking to the press during the launch of Folded & Hung and Meg Magazine’s Marvel Kawaii collection on Wednesday, November 27, the Kapamilya star said he wants to be as honest about his love life.

This is in response to comments that Jessy might keep her romantic status from the public, as what happened with her relationship with ex-boyfriend JM De Guzman.

“Kung magiging kami, yes (aamin ako), I don’t see why not,” Sam said.

The “Kimmy Dora: Ang Kiyemeng Prequel” star stressed, “Wala kaming project together, so it’s not like pang-promo. Pagdating sa pag-amin, yes. Pagdating sa pag-amin sa detalye ng relationship namin, no.”

Sam also reacted to reports that he and Jessy are already a couple. According to the actor, “We’re not together, that’s the honest truth.”

“I will make this clear, hindi pa kami. That is a wrong impression, na sinasabi na kami,” he added.

The actor-singer maintains that he’s very open about Jessy now because he wants to show he is serious with Jessy.

“But at the same time, ayoko ng wrong impression na gusto ko na pagdating sa personal life, open ako,” he added. “Yung personal life, akin pa rin e. But I just want to be honest sa mga tao na, yes, this is the girl that I like.”

‘Di pa ako handa’

In a separate event, also on Wednesday, November 27, Jessy told members of the press that she still hasn’t chosen from her admirers. Aside from Sam, her “Maria Mercedes” co-star Jake Cuenca is also open about admiring Jessy.

The entertainment media has also thrown collegiate basketball players Jeric and Jeron Teng into the mix, thanks to their earlier media interviews admitting that they admire Jessy as well.

And like Sam, Jessy said she will be more open about her love life this time around.

“Yung kay JM, iba naman 'yon. Dati bata pa ako. But definitely ngayon aaminin ko,” she said.

Jessy said about Sam: “Kung may finish line man, i-urong muna natin kung nakarating man siya kasi di pa ako ready, di pa ako handa.”

“Ako personally sasabihin ko sa inyo pero sa ngayon 'di pa ako handa.”
