Rescue 5 bags Quill Awards for Excellence

MANILA, Philippines - Rescue 5 received two Awards of Excellence at the Philippine Quill Awards 2013, the country’s highest and most comprehensive awards in business communication. A trailblazer in cause journalism, the Emergency Response Unit of TV5 News and Information (News5), combines broadcast innovations and public service to deliver news that takes action.

The entry Rescue 5 Activity Book won an Award of Excellence in Communication Skills (Publications Category) and was nominated for the Top Division Award for pioneering a fun and innovative way of teaching disaster preparedness to kids.

The team’s disaster response during the 2012 Habagat flooding was also recognized. Rescue5: Aksyon sa Habagat earned an Award of Excellence in Communications Management (Multi-Audience Communication Category).

TV5 Public Service head Sherryl Yao and News5 anchor Paolo Bediones received the trophies. 

The Philippine Quill Awards is annually organized by the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC) Philippines.
