Fashion and symphony usher in holidays at Shang

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - The holiday spirit is set to rise to a soaring crescendo this month as Shangri-La Plaza presents an exciting line-up of musical performances and its annual holiday fashion show, setting the mood for the onset of the most wonderful time of year.

Kicking off the series of musical merrymaking was the UP Jazz Ensemble that serenaded mall guests with special numbers last Nov. 9. Founded in 1977, UP Jazz Ensemble has been lauded for playing an impressive repertoire from known standard composers and arrangers, and promoting jazz appreciation among Filipinos with its performances.

Today at 5 p.m., the Ateneo College Glee Club takes the stage at the Grand Atrium. The first university chorale to have released albums of traditional and folk songs, the Ateneo College Glee Club has also been recognized and awarded in prestigious competitions in Europe.

Signaling that Christmastime is finally here, the UP Madrigal Singers (photo) presents a joyful line-up of musical performances to put shoppers in the Yuletide spirit on Nov. 30, 7 p.m. at the Grand Atrium. Touted by UNESCO in 2009 as the Artists for Peace, the group is the country’s most active ambassadors of goodwill, and with an average of two overseas concert tours a year, it is  probably also one of the world’s most-traveled choirs.

Don’t miss the Shang’s much-awaited, annual holiday fashion show Fashion and Symphony. Slated on Nov. 23, 7 p.m. at the Grand Atrium, the show will feature highlights of the Autumn/Winter collections of top fashion brands.
