Pinoys’ support for Ariella amazes Russians
MANILA, Philippines - The Russians and the other nations represented at the Miss Universe competition are impressed by the outpouring of love and support being shown by the Filipino communities in Moscow and around the world for Miss Philippines Ariella Arida.
The recently-concluded preliminary competitions showed this love to the hilt when Filipinos wildly cheered for Ariella as she sashayed across the massive stage in her red bikini and later on in a stunning yellow gown.
“I draw my strength from the Filipinos who keep lifting me up. In fact, the Russians told me that they are so amazed by all the love that I’m getting from my country. I feel so blessed because of their support,†Ariella said in an interview.
When asked how she would rate her performance and her “crowd favorite†status, Ariella answered, “I did my best in the preliminary competitions and of course, I want to land in the Top 16... and eventually win the crown! Of course, I am both happy and privileged to be a part of most of the important events. But I refuse to be distracted over things of which I have no control like how the judges will think. So instead of worrying, I just try to have fun and do my best for the Philippines!â€
While several pundits and media agencies have been giving fearless forecasts about her bagging the much-coveted title and Nexus crown, Ariella chooses to enjoy every minute of the pageant. “This is turning out to be the experience of a lifetime. The rehearsals are bringing us (the girls) closer to each other and it has always been a healthy and friendly environment from the start. Sayang naman ang moment if I am bogged down by senseless worrying.â€
Ariella disclosed that what worries her more is the state of her kababayan who are taking a beating from natural calamities and fighting like Bohol, Cebu and Zamboanga. She sent this message of hope to Filipinos who are in dire straits because of these natural and man-made tragedies: “I know that we, Filipinos can surpass everything. Knowing Filipinos, these situations make us stronger and more united to help each other. Alam kong malalampasan natin ang lahat no matter what. Stay strong and positive. I send out my love to all those who are affected. Maliit mang kaligayahan ang maidudulot nito, basta, in my heart and in my mind, I will try to bring home the crown for the Philippines!â€
