Katy Perry is now most followed personality on Twitter

MANILA, Philippines – Move over, Justin Bieber.

Singer Katy Perry is now the most followed personality on the micro-blogging site Twitter as of Nov. 4, The Hollywood Reporter reports.

The “Roar” singer stole that distinction from Bieber, who, in turn, dethroned Lady Gaga as Twitter’s most followed some 10 months ago.

As of posting time, Perry has 46.56 million followers, while Bieber has 46.53 million.

Musicians are among Twitter’s most followed celebrities — four out of the five most followed personalities on the social media site are celebrities. Lady Gaga is the third most followed on Twitter, while Taylor Swift is fifth.

The only non-musician on Twitter’s top five most followed? US President Barack Obama, who is the fourth most followed on the micro-blogging site.

On Facebook, however, Lady Gaga remains to be the most popular — her official page has accumulated over 60 million likes.

In the Philippines, Kapamilya actress Anne Curtis has over five million followers on Twitter.
