John Prats stars on his first indie film

MANILA, Philippines- Actor John Prats is very happy to finally work on his first independent film.

He will star in Mes De Guzman’s entry for the Cinema One Originals Plus titled “Sitio.”

During the presscon, the Kapamilya actor said that there have been offers before to do an indie film only “for some weird resonss hindi po talaga natutuloy.”

So when the opportunity came knocking on his door again, John finally grabbed it to feed his “hunger” as an actor.

“Isang factor siguro yung hunger ko, ”  the actor said. “Sinabi ko nga kay direk Mes [de Guzman], nakukuha ko naman yung gusto ko pero hindi yung kailangan ko sa sarili ko.”

Since this is his first indie project, John can’t help but notice how different doing an indie film from a mainstream film.

“Yung kundisyon ng trabaho iba—malayung-malayo sa mainstream,” he described. “Pero yung ramdam mo yung katrabaho mo, lahat ng members, sina direk, ramdam mo yung passion. Hindi siya about sa art na gusto nilang gawin, yung culture ng istorya, pati ikaw madadamay.”

After doing this project, John that he doesn’t regret anything, and even added that “nakaka-adik gumawa kasi parang nabubusog ako, yung pagkatao ko as an actor.”

And now that he got a taste of working on such projects, he’s only looking forward to one thing: “I hope to do more!”
