A different kind of love story

FUNFARE UPDATE - Ricky Lo - The Philippine Star

Five days before the GMA surprise hit bromance My Husband’s Lover (MHL) concluded its breathtaking four-month run, two men capped their 10-year beautiful romance by exchanging “I do’s” at the Central Park in New York.

Give the newlyweds a warm applause — Mr. Perci Intalan and Mr. Jun Lana, who are now officially Mr. Perci Intalan-Lana and Mr. Jun Lana-Intalan. Perci is a TV5 executive and Jun, a Palanca Award-winner, is GMA Network’s creative director who, by coincidence, happens to be behind the success of MHL which was written by Suzette Doctolero.

The Perci-Jun bromance started in 2003 when they were introduced by a mutual friend.

“There was an immediate mutual admiration,” recalled the couple’s friend, “but, so to speak, sparks didn’t fly on their first meeting.”

Perci was then working with Disney in Hong Kong, together with Raymund Miranda, after they both resigned from GMA. Perci quit his Disney job and came back home. He and Jun met again. Soon after, they started living together with their two dogs. What followed was a different kind of love story that was destined to end up at the altar.

On Oct. 14, amidst the red and gold autumn leaves that cushioned the byways of Central Park, the lovers sealed their relationship with hands lovingly locked together, eyes fixed on each other’s as they promised to have and to hold, for better or for worse, ‘till death…

Witnessed by some 30 members of the couple’s families and friends, the ceremony was officiated by Paul Hertel, a registered officiant for same-sex weddings. The groom and the groom were dapper in Paul Cabral black suits. The couple are well-loved by their respected families.

On the eve of the wedding, the couple went to Central Park to do a final ocular inspection. Early the next day, they were fetched at their hotel by Perci’s brother and sister.

“The best part of the ceremony was that everyone present felt the love and the joy,” Perci told a friend. “There were a lot of laughs, too. People told us that it was a simple yet heart-warming wedding.”

From New York, the newlyweds flew to Japan for their honeymoon after Jun received an award for his movie, the Eugene Domingo starrer Barber’s Tales, entered at the Tokyo International Film Festival.

But of course, they have themselves as each other’s most precious trophies.
