Kim Chiu encourages other celebs to help victims of Visayas Quake

MANILA, Philippines- Kim Chiu was deeply worried about her grandmother who was in Cebu when the 7.2 magnitude earthquake hit the Visayas region last October 15.

“Natakot talaga kami,” she said in an interview Saturday afternoon, October 19.

“Kasi siya lang mag-isa tapos mga yaya lang ang andoon. So tinatawagan namin siya, okay namam siya kasi bungalow naman yung house namin.”

Though Kim asked her to stay with them here in Manila, her grandmother turned it down saying she can’t leave the town where she grew up.

After the incident, Kim immediately sent help to the victims in Cebu. She also encourages other celebrities to “help in their own little way, kahit maliliit na donation. Para at least makatulong tayo sa mga kababayan natin.”

Ever since, Kim is one of the celebrities who has been active in reaching out to different communities and organizations, especially to those that caters to kids.

That’s why she was invited by Bodog Nation in partnership with Calvin Ayre Foundation to entertain the kids from Gawad Kalinga Foundation in Quezon City, and to give them gifts together with other celebrities namely Rufa Mae Quinto, Ryza Cenon, Michelle Madrigal, and Valerie Garcia.

Meanwhile, Kim will be busy soon in working on another romantic-comedy film with Xian Lim.

She prefers to do such projects for now because, “Ang dami-dami nang nagyayari sa bansa. Gusto ko naman sila patawanin kahit one and forty-five minutes lang.”
