Meet MYMP’s new vocalist

MANILA, Philippines - “Jana was the first among the many eager applicants,” said Teresa Tinio, MYMP manager. “After she sang two songs I immediately predicted that she could be a front runner in the auditions.” 

MYMP band leader Chin Alcantara, revealed his caution. “After Jana jammed with us, I listed her as a strong contender but, I and our manager routinely proceeded with the exhaustive auditions that we were already used to, every time a vacancy in the band line-up is announced. There was always the possibility that other applicants might surpass the performance of a perceived front runner.”

Chin further clarified, “Jana has the personality and voice timbre of the ideal MYMP vocalist but I knew she had to undergo rigorous training. We continued searching far and wide, while Jana performed as one of our sessionists. Many applicants had excellent qualities needed by the band. In the end, we realized Jana’s edge was her overall attributes.

Teresa added, “We needed somebody who has that intriguing MYMP persona contrasts. She projects the fragility and modesty of a young woman yet confident of her sex appeal. The sweetness of her voice for love songs disguises her ability to crossover easily into jazz and pop tunes.

“We got Jana because she is a fresh face, just like our past vocalists when they entered the band. Jana’s personality and talent jive with the seemingly simple yet sophisticated versions of pop songs by MYMP.”  She said with conviction, “We found another jewel. We are again moving on and relentlessly aiming higher.”
